UPDATE 10/13/26: The Chicago Marathon was another good weekend for runners wearing the adidas Adios Pro Evo 3. Amos Kipruto won the men’s race, while Hawi Feysa took first in the women’s event. Both had the same $500 racing shoe on their feet. Three of the six podium finishers wore the model, which has already been part of major results in London and Berlin this year.
The Adios Pro Evo 3 will be available again on October 29th. adidas is keeping the price at $500.
UPDATE 4/27/26: A 1:59:30 finish for Sabastian Sawe at the London Marathon put the adidas Adios Pro Evo 3 in the spotlight almost immediately. The Kenyan runner became the first to complete an official marathon in under two hours, and Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha followed just 11 seconds behind in 1:59:41. Both were wearing adidas’ new racing shoe.
At less than 100 grams, the Adios Pro Evo 3 was on the feet of the two fastest runners that day. Nike wasn’t far behind, though. Jacob Kiplimo finished third with a time of 2:00:28, wearing a prototype that hadn’t been released yet.
The timing worked out well for adidas, with the limited $500 release selling out that same morning. More pairs were expected to arrive later in 2026.
Original Story 4/24/26:
Six World Marathon Major victories, three world records, and an Olympic record have put adidas in a pretty good position heading into its next racing shoe release. The Adizero Adios Pro EVO 3 follows those results with a lighter build and some changes underfoot, all aimed at getting more out of the shoe over marathon distances.
Most of the weight reduction comes from Lightstrike Pro Evo foam, which adidas says weighs nearly half as much as the material used in earlier versions. The foam is also designed to be more responsive, so runners still get the cushioning they need without carrying as much weight through a full race.
Another change is the ENERGYRIM system, which uses carbon reinforcement to manage stiffness and stability. It also lets adidas add more foam without making the shoe heavier. According to the brand, the new setup weighs 30% less than the previous model, offers 11% more forefoot energy return, and improves running economy by 1.6%.
The numbers get even more interesting when looking at the actual weight. A men’s size 9 comes in at only 97 grams, despite having 39mm of cushioning in the heel and 36mm in the forefoot. That works out to a 3mm drop.
The adidas Adizero Adios Pro EVO 3 releases April 27th in extremely limited quantities through adidas.com and select running specialty stores. Retail price is set at $500.
