Sneaker Talk: Let’s Talk – Nike Air Flight One Black/White

Published on

Back in 1995, the Nike Air Flight One Black/White released and became one of the more interesting non-retro release to-date. Let us explain, in 1995-96, Penny Hardaway laced-up the Nike Air Flight One in his first two seasons. During Game 3 in the second round of the ’95 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals, Michael Jordan and Penny Hardaway rocked the same pair of sneakers. They weren’t the Air Jordan’s, instead MJ was forced to switch to an all-black sneaker in accordance with the league uniform rules. He than borrowed a pair from Penny’s collection, which happen to be the Nike Air Flight One; the same pair Hardaway would rock (pictures below of both). Before MJ laced them up, he chopped the number “1” heel-tab off, due to his competitiveness. That is why these are so interesting!

The Nike Air Flight One features a Black nubuck with White detailing accents throughout, while the number “1” is seen on the heel-tab. While rumors have been swirling around about a possible 2012 return, let’s hope it comes true. If retro’d for the first time, would you consider these a Must-Cop? Does the story behind these sneakers intrigue you want them even more? Leave your thoughts and answers in the comment section below.
