Sneaker Talk: Air Jordan 13/14 “Defining Moments Pack”

Published on

The Air Jordan 13/14 “Defining Moments Pack” goes back to the end of Michael Jordan’s run with the Chicago Bulls, when Chicago closed out the 1998 NBA Finals for its sixth championship. Jordan Brand released the two-pair set years later, using the Air Jordan 13 and 14 to revisit that final season without making the shoes identical.

White covers most of the Air Jordan 13, broken up by gold around the midsole and other smaller areas. The hologram was changed for this pair and shows Jordan with “98,” the year Chicago won that last championship. There’s also writing tucked behind the tongues. One reads “THEY CAN’T WIN,” while the other says “UNTIL WE QUIT.”

The Air Jordan 14 went with black instead, adding gold details that were based on the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. Look at the back and the usual “23” is gone too. Jordan Brand replaced it with “98,” another detail made specifically for this pack.

A lot of the story was carried into the packaging. The shoes came together in a special box printed with the Bulls’ final play against Utah, drawn up by Phil Jackson. That possession ended with Jordan knocking down his famous final shot as a Bull.

The Air Jordan 13/14 “Defining Moments Pack” released June 14, 2017, for $500. Anyone hunting down the pack today can still find sizes on the resale market through StockX.
