Nike Basketball has officially unveiled the KD 19 “Candy Apple”, an all-red colorway from Kevin Durant’s upcoming “Candy Paint” Pack.
University Red takes over just about everything, from the molded upper and laces to the midsole and outsole. Nike kept the contrast to a minimum, adding small Stadium Green KD logos to the insoles.
The color blocking also makes the KD 19’s new shape easier to take in. Durant’s 19th signature shoe has a smoother, more molded build than several recent models in the line. Instead of stacking different materials across the upper, Nike went with a structured shell that wraps the foot and helps keep it secure during quick movements.
A sharp piece runs through the lateral side and gives the shoe most of its character. Nike calls it a dual-injection “dagger” detail, though it is not there only for looks. It also adds support through the side of the shoe when players are cutting or changing direction.
The performance setup stays familiar for the KD line. Full-length Zoom Strobel cushioning sits directly underfoot for a responsive feel, while the rubber outsole uses a multidirectional pattern for traction. KD branding finishes the tongue, heel, and insoles.
