Is The Nike LeBron Elite Series A Flop?

The Nike LeBron line releases a new silhouette every year with new technology and a constantly increasing price point. The Elite series inevitably releases as well and expands upon the initial look by bringing in stylized design, improved technology, alternate color ways, and an even heftier retail price. If the regular LeBron 11 color ways sit aside from the limited releases such as the Forging Iron, why is it expected that the Elite will do better?

Needless to say, it doesn’t. It shares the same attributes as LeBron, flopping constantly on the market every year and with the highest priced sneaker to date at $275 before tax. It shouldn’t be expected to fly off shelves, especially since we have seen the same story occur with the Nike LeBron 9 and 10. So what if the sneaker features ever-lasting materials and top of the line basketball performance? The initial price alone scares off many consumers and the data provided shows it.

Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Lance Mountain – Black vs. White

The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 “Lance Mountain” was a widely anticipated release. Featuring the dope design on the classic Air Jordan 1 silhouette, the sneaker pleased a wide variety of Jordan/SB lovers. The sneaker came in two different colorways. Both colorways feature a “Bred” and “Royal” base for the left and right sneaker, but you had a choice on if you wanted a pair with a black painted overlay or a white one. If you didn’t know, the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 “Lance Mountain” comes with a dope new feature where the overlaying paint wears off after use displaying the sneaker’s true colors. Both iterations of the sneaker sold out everywhere, but only one prevails as the most popular.. can you guess which one? Take a look as we dig deeper into the question of “Black or White?”

The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 “Lance Mountain” both retailed at $150. The lower price and limited quantities gave re-sellers a promising come up. Both pairs were instantly put up for sale on both Kixify and eBay listings. In just the first couple of days, the black version pulled in $18,416 in total sales while the white version just barely pushed $11,104.

Even though the black iteration only had 13 more pairs for sale, a sell-through rate clocked in at 50.59% put the sale numbers passed the white version which was only successful at a low 32%. This huge difference in sell-through rate made a big difference in overall sales.

Release Cancelled: Black Sheep x Nike SB Dunk High Premium

For those that were anticipating the release of the Black Sheep x Nike SB Dunk High Premium, we have some sad news to report as the release has been officially cancelled. Black Sheep NC released this statement:

“We are very sorry to announce that, effective immediately, the release of the Black Sheep x Nike SB Dunk High Premium has been cancelled. All unsold pairs have already been returned. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your continued support. We cannot comment any further at this time, so no calls or emails please.”

As of right now there are no further release information, but if anything changes we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
