Nike’s “Smoke Grey/Tough Red” Air Max 90 keeps things pretty close to the original formula, just with a darker fall-ready mix. Grey Fog mesh forms the base, while Smoke Grey suede runs through the toe, eyestay, and side panels to keep the upper layered in the usual Air Max 90 fashion.

Tough Red gives the shoe its main hit of color. Nike uses it on the ribbed eyestays, heel badge, Air Max window, midsole wedge, and outsole, but the red suede Swoosh is the part that stands out most. On a mostly grey upper, that side hit does more than it would on a louder pair.

Black leather details the mudguard and heel giving some heaviness to contrast the softer greys. Textured white tongue, light grey laces, black Nike swoosh and white midsole completes the look.

The Nike Air Max 90 “Smoke Grey/Tough Red” is expected to release Fall 2026 through Nike.com and select retailers for $135 USD.
