ASICS and Brain Dead announced their latest collaboration, “Organic Chaos.” Built on the Trabuco Max trail shoe, this is the most technical model ever used for a collaboration by Brain Dead. The silhouette, one of ASICS’ newer trail models, was introduced in late 2020.

Brain Dead’s vision was rooted in the neglected and often overlooked aspects of the forest, specifically in molds, fungi and mycelium growth. This design language is reflected throughout the shoe, from the outsole all the way up to the laces.

The shoe’s upper is made to reflect how a trail and wild mushrooms interact with the earth – circular design language embodies rapidly expanding spores and molds. The outsole blends vibrant greens and dark blacks, signifying the amalgamation of earth with the thriving vegetation of the forest floor. Completing the shoe are the unorthodox laces, which are disruptive while remaining functional.
