Air Jordan 20 Doernbecher Auction Honors 20th Anniversary

Published on

The Air Jordan XX “Doernbecher Freestyle” celebrates 20 years of Nike’s partnership with the Doernbecher Freestyle program. This special release blends history, design, and a charitable cause. Created by Nike icon Mark Smith, the shoe pays tribute to two decades of patient-designed sneakers that have helped raise funds for OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The intricate laser-printed details on the shoe feature the initials of all 122 patient-designers who have contributed to this heartwarming program.

For this release, Nike designers crafted a new mosaic, celebrating the creativity of these young patient-designers. Only 20 pairs of this limited edition will be available, each individually numbered. This rarity adds to the demand and exclusivity of the release, making it a must-have for collectors.

The sneakers will be auctioned through Sotheby’s, starting at $1 on October 21, 2024. Bidding will close on October 30, 2024, at 12 PM ET.

Due to the limited availability and sentimental connection to the Doernbecher Freestyle program, each pair is expected to fetch over $2,000. Every dollar raised from this auction will benefit the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, continuing the program’s tradition of using sneakers to support a noble cause.

The Air Jordan XX “Doernbecher Freestyle” is more than just a collector’s item. It symbolizes two decades of young patients expressing their creativity while helping to support life-saving treatments. By owning a pair, you not only gain a rare piece of sneaker history but also contribute to an important mission.
