Going back to its music roots for FW14, the adidas Originals Blue collection is partly based on RUN DMC’s streetwear legacy. By adopting the hip-hop trio’s dynamic looks for a contemporary wardrobe, the August drop is focused on updating the beat-infused sportswear into luxurious streetwear with a healthy dose of attitude. By re-appropriating the classic garments for a 21st century sporty and urban lifestyle, the collection represents adidas Originals’s take on a modern day Japanese streetwear version of American sportswear of the time.
Casually tailored pieces are mixed with iconic logos in all-over prints. RUN DMC branding and New York’s famous skyline define the prints for both men’s and womenswear. Focused on a RUN DMC color palette of red, white and black, the August prints include the ‘Player’ and ‘Tougher Than Leather’ slogans, plus an updated version of the original RUN DMC ADIDAS badge.
Adding a sophisticated streetwear edge to the FW14 collection, the adidas Originals Blue collection also features a slick contrast tiger camo print in night cargo and black. The print also comes in a tonal and subtle version, and is used for a variety of different fabrics for men and women, allowing the camouflage print to alter its appearances depending on the look.
The adidas Originals Blue Collection will launch in-store and online on August 1, 2014.
