adidas is trying something different with the Adizero EVO SL. This new version gets rid of the laces completely and uses a slip-on upper instead, while the rest of the shoe stays close to the original.
Several versions of the EVO SL have already surfaced since the original model arrived. The Woven, Zip, and EXO have all taken different approaches to the upper, and the Laceless is another variation built around the same lightweight platform.
A sock-like opening takes the place of the usual tongue and laces on this pair. Since there are no laces to tighten the shoe around the foot, synthetic overlays have been added across the upper for extra structure and support. The overall shape stays slim, while the familiar high-stack cushioning remains underfoot.
Pairs of the adidas Adizero EVO SL Laceless have already appeared through adidas and retailers in international markets. Pricing is expected to land somewhere between $160 and $170 when the shoe reaches the U.S. A release date has yet to be announced.
