Wish ATL is getting ready to close its Little Five Points store on December 28, 2026, bringing 22 years in Atlanta to an end. The shop opened in 2004 and, over time, became one of those places people in the city knew for sneakers, streetwear, fashion, and smaller independent brands.
Founder Lauren Amos shared the news on Wish ATL’s Instagram. In her message, she thanked the customers, artists, designers, and everyone else who helped turn the store into what it became.
“For more than two decades, Wish has been more than a store. It has been a place where fashion, art, and culture intersect. A place where people gathered, discovered new designers and forms of expression, and above all found community and inspiration,” said Amos. “To every customer who walked through our doors in Little Five Points, every artist who trusted us, and everyone who dreamed alongside us – thank you. You are the legacy of Wish.”
Wish earned its reputation by carrying major sneaker releases alongside streetwear, collaborations, smaller brands, and independent designers. That mix helped separate it from a standard sneaker shop and gave the store a real place within Atlanta’s wider creative scene.
The closing also adds to a rough stretch for sneaker retail. Eastbay shut down in 2022, while Hanon and wellgosh later closed in Europe. atmos left the U.S. market to focus on Asia, and The Whitaker Group closed Prosper. Foot Locker has been scaling back too, after announcing in 2023 that it planned to close hundreds of mall locations by 2026.
There have been cases where a retailer managed to return after things looked finished. Sneakersnstuff went through bankruptcy before new ownership stepped in and brought the business back. Whether Wish ever takes a similar path remains unknown.
