Westside Gunn is putting his own stamp on the Saucony Grid Jazz 9 with a new collaboration called “Awesome Gods.” The Buffalo rapper recently showed the pair on Instagram, revealing a design loaded with animal prints, bright color hits and details tied directly to Griselda.

Inspiration comes from two very different corners of sneaker history. Westside Gunn referenced Jeremy Scott’s adidas work and the animal-print-heavy atmos Nike Air Max collaborations, both of which helped shape the look of this release. Cheetah, zebra, cow and other faux pony hair patterns are spread across the upper, while pink and yellow accents appear around the Saucony logos, tongue, heel and toe.

Because the materials are cut differently from pair to pair, no two versions will look exactly the same. That variation adds even more character to a shoe that already has plenty going on, especially with the metallic panels and layered textures mixed throughout the design.

Griselda branding appears on the heels, insoles and hangtags through the label’s scorpion logo. Leather moccasin-style laces finish off the shoe and give the Grid Jazz 9 another detail that separates it from a standard release.
