The Whitaker Group and PUMA are launching their new partnership with “Echo Points,” a three-colorway Suede CODA collection arriving later this month. “Flaxen,” “Chambray,” and “Red Rhythm” make up the first release, which also serves as the introduction to CODA, the name of the two sides’ ongoing multi-season project.
All three Suedes have a faded finish that makes them look like pairs that have already spent some time in rotation. Suede covers the uppers, joined by fuzzy laces and stitched Formstrips, while the muted colors keep the vintage look consistent across the collection. The familiar shape of the PUMA Suede remains largely untouched.
“Echo Points” was built around a Pittsburgh creative group and three disciplines called The Mixologist, The Curator, and The Sound Architect. Hospitality, bringing people together, and music each play a role in the campaign, connecting back to the larger idea of how creative work and influence move through different communities.
CODA will continue beyond these first three sneakers. PUMA and The Whitaker Group plan to expand the partnership through more footwear, apparel, experiences, and creative projects, with future chapters looking at how ideas from previous generations are carried into new work. The name comes from the musical term “coda,” the closing passage of a composition, and is being used here to represent the point where one chapter leads into the next.
The Whitaker Group x PUMA Suede CODA “Echo Points” Collection releases August 21 at 12 PM ET through A Ma Maniére. EQL drawings are open through August 17 at 3 PM ET.
