Sean Wotherspoon’s Nike Air Max 1/97 was one of the biggest releases of 2018, which dropped on Air Max Day. The special release was originally part of a Nike design contest that he ended up winning. Heavily inspired by Sean’s love for vintage Nike hats from the 1980s, it’s now time to turn the page and give us the “Second Wave.”

In a few Instagram posts, Sean confirms that he is currently working on the next installment to his Nike Air Max 1/97 series. From the sample photos, it looks like the shoe will come in a Blue palette, although that could change on the final version.

No word on release details, but you can expect more info to come in the coming months. Stay tuned to Sneaker Bar for more updates as they develop.

First peek at the second wave! Still early on the sample process, and there’s a lot that’s going to change! I’m thinking add some color to the sole, make that air bubble infrared, gotta change the sock liner to yellow, maybe a new color insole?!, fix the denim on the tabs, and do a gradient from light to dark blue instead of all light blue?!? What new patches should I include with this pair?! I couldn’t be happier holding these babies in my hand, can’t wait to see the final sample! It’s been crazy seeing the 1/97’s evolve from the first sample Nike ever showed me. The more time I spend with this most recent sample, I’m realizing the team has perfected the silhouette. Even the smallest details have been given the time. I could completely nerd out right now and go in to detail about every inch of the shoe, but I’ll wait for you guys to see for yourself!
