[Release Reminder] Air Jordan XX8 “Westbrook OKC Pack”

When the Air Jordan XX8 first released, Russell Westbrook was chosen to rep Jordan Brand’s latest flagship sneaker throughout the NBA season. Fortunately for fans, one of the PE’s he wore on court will be available to the public along with two other colorways inspired by him and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Since the XX8 uses a synthetic textile upper, there are endless design possibilities, from cut-out designs to large graphics. Westbrook’s pack takes advantage of the shoe’s versatility with these three unique colorways.

First, we have the white perforated XX8 PE Westbrook often wore during home games. With the cut-out design, this colorway achieves a look many may have never seen on a performance sneaker. The orange outsole and the blue zipper outline give this clean colorway the proper OKC treatment. What’s even more unique about this XX8 is that the left shoe has an orange bootie while the right shoe has a blue bootie.

Second, we have a blue based XX8 that quotes Westbrook’s well known motto,”Why Not?”. Not often will you see a sneaker be able to display words and phrases quite like this. Again, orange takes over the outsole and blue works the zipper outline. This colorway is simple, but also bold and loud. Will you rock these? “Why Not?”

Last, but definitely not least, an orange based XX8 with a camo-like design in blue and white finishes up the “Westbrook Pack”. Off the court, Westbrook is notorious for his style which often includes wild patterns and prints so it is only appropriate that this colorway would fall under his name. Unlike the other two colorways in this pack, this particular pair uses a white outsole and a black bootie.

The Air Jordan XX8 “Westbrook Pack” will release Saturday, June 8th at House of Hoops by Foot Locker locations and Footlocker.com (starting at 8:00 a.m. EST) for $250 each. Check the Launch Locator to see which stores will carry this release.

Shoe Forecast: A Comparison on Two “Weatherman” Shoes

The Nike Air Foamposite One “Weatherman” emerged a few weeks ago. It comes a little over a year after Kevin Durant’s “Weatherman” shoe. The Foamposite was inspired by the Nike Zoom KD IV so a comparison is only right.

Nike Zoom KD IV
Stadium Green/Volt-Black-Team Orange
December 10th, 2011
$95

In early December 2011 the KD IV “Weatherman” popped on the scene and received instant hype. The reason behind the design is that when Kevin Durant was a young boy he wanted to be a meteorologist and out came this shoe. Green covers the entire upper and the back heel features orange and yellow in a rain doppler radar design signaling rain is on its way. The same type of pattern can be seen on the translucent sole.

Nike Air Foamposite One
Jetstream/Black-Gamma Blue-White
575420-100
August 31st, 2013
$235

Foamposites usually carry a bunch of hype and one of the next foams set to release are the “Weatherman” foams. The shoe features some of the same detailing as the KD IV such as the rain doppler radar on the back side of the shoe. The radar uses blue, green, and red instead of the KD IV’s orange and yellow. The main base is white instead of green and hints of black all around the shoe. The shoe also features lightning bolts and tornado on the back pull tabs and liner compared to the cloud, sun, and lightning bolt on the insole of the KD IV.

The two shoes shares similarities and differences, how do you think it compares to the KD VI and will you be copping this model?

The Reverse Classic

The Air Jordan “Black Grape” will make its debut on Saturday, June 15th 2013. The iconic “Grape” 5 retroed in May of this year, with a white leather upper and the grape purple mid-sole with hints of emerald. The black grapes brings a darker look to the what we call grapes.

The “Black Grapes” features a smooth nubuck like upper, similar to the Cav 4’s that released earlier in 2012. Some people refer to these as the “Aqua’s” because of the similar color way as the retro 8 which is rumored to release later this year. On the “Black Grapes”, you still have your grape purple mid-sole with the same hints of emerald as the original grapes, as well as the icy blue tinted bottom.

No matter what you decide to call these, will you decide to cop or drop? How do you see these in comparison to the original color way of the grapes? Let us know what you think, comment below.
