The NBA plans to use players nicknames on the back of their jerseys during prime games. The kick off to seeing nicknames on the jerseys will be the Heat vs. Nets where we can see King James, Jesus Shuttlesworth, The Truth, KG and Wade has plenty to select form.
“It shows growth in our league and it shows we do adapt to what’s going on around us,” said Ray Allen, the Heat guard who plans to wear “Shuttlesworth” on his jersey, a nod to his character from the film “He Got Game.” “And we’re still kids, playing a kids’ game. Even though we’re now men playing a kids’ game, we still remember where we come from. Everybody had a nickname, and it’s a way to let the fans in a little bit more.”
“I think it gives players a great opportunity to frame their brand by picking a name that tells their story or further communicates what they represent,” Kobe Bryant told ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell.

The design of this Nike LeBron XI is inspired by the Terracotta Warriors as we see them today — in neutral stone colors along with pop colors of purple/teal/red to represent how they were originally painted. The graphic texture on the upper articulates the linked, plated armor that the warriors wore. The special lining shank design graphic is drawn from the style of Bronze Age art, the era in which the Terracotta Warriors were made.
