Released in August 2020, this collab followed Union LA’s wildly hyped Air Jordan 1 drop from 2018. Expectations were sky-high. The delivery? Even higher.

The “Off Noir” didn’t play it safe. A black mesh upper mixed with soft suede gave it an aged, vintage feel. The blue collar, translucent wings, and mismatched eyelets made it feel more art piece than sneaker. And that stitched-down tongue? People were confused—until they realized it was genius.

Inspired by thrifting, the yellowed midsole and contrast stitching felt straight out of an ‘80s locker room. The “UN/LA” side tag and Air Jordan branding stitched to the outside of the tongue gave it a real “I know style, you don’t” vibe.

Even the packaging slapped—literally featuring MJ himself reaching for greatness.
