Sneaker Talk: Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Island Green”

The Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Island Green” was originally released in September 2017. It introduced a new burst of energy into the Foamposite franchise. The supercharged colorway on the Air Foamposite Pro was immediately compared to the “Electric Blue” Foamposite from 2011. However, the unique seafoam hue helped the model distinguish itself from the comparison in mind.

It sports a bright molded Foamposite shell in a reflective turquoise color, and a chrome jewel Swoosh along the side. Balancing black details on the eyestays, tongue and collar, and a carbon fiber midfoot shank for durability and support. The translucent icy outsole ties the sneaker together, looking cool in play and off the court. The pair is memorable for that pop of metallic that compliments the crisp clean aqua base. Foamposite fans still appreciate that level of detail.

The Island Green Foamposite Pro is a popular sneaker among collectors for its aggressive palette and futuristic feel. It is one of the more memorable Foamposite releases in the last decade thanks to the pairing of nostalgia and new energy in the model.

Where To Buy

While it is no longer available at retail, they can be found on secondary marketplaces such as StockX.

If you missed this one in 2017, it’s still a great pick-up that has continued cultural relevance in the Foamposite lineup.

Here we are with the Sporty & Rich x adidas Adistar Control 5 dropping throwback vibes with chrome overlays and tight geometry.

adiPrene cushioning keeps the ride comfy, while plush tongue details and a cubic-patterned midsole offer this nostalgic revival a retro-futuristic flair. It’s this mix of old-school build with a modern-day feel that sets this drop apart.

Nike Zoom GT Cut “Black/Bright Crimson” Designed For Real Hoopers

Nike has revealed one of the most fun basketball shoes lately with the Zoom GT Cut “Black/Bright Crimson.”

The colorway pairs a black upper with loud crimson underlays that pop with each step. The Swoosh disappears into a red ceramic before morphing into an orange glow. Chrome accents that span the eyestay, heel, and midsole take the design even further.

Fans of this shoe will notice how this colorway plays off of old Black and Red colorways Jordan made popular. That type of nostalgia gives the shoe a crossover appeal with both hoopers and collectors. The outsole is bright crimson for consistency throughout the look.

The Nike Zoom GT Cut “Black/Bright Crimson” releases Fall 2025 at a price of $190. Look for it at Nike.com and select retailers.

Reebok Engine A “Moonstone” Releases September 5th

The Reebok Engine A “Moonstone” is set to release this Fall and fuses futuristic styling with a touch of Reebok’s performance legacy.

Decked in an all White/Black-Moonstone color scheme, the Engine A is constructed with layered synthetic panels over a breathable mesh upper for a streamlined, purposeful look. In-your-face black overlays slash across the upper, while Moonstone accents are used on the high-performance shaped midsole windows. That aesthetic detail is a nice reference to Reebok’s late ‘90s tech period, which enthusiasts will no doubt appreciate.

Highlighting the Engine A is Energy Return System (ERS) cushioning system, which is visible through pod-like cutouts across the midsole. Providing a comfortable ride, that feature also contributes to the shoe’s retro-futuristic aesthetic. A wavy patterned outsole provides traction and durability on the bottom, which makes it ideal for all-day wear.

Retailing at $120 USD, the Reebok Engine A “Moonstone” will release on September 5, 2025 via Reebok.com and select retailers.

Action Bronson x New Balance 992 “Digitalis Purpurea” Releases September 2025

UPDATE 8/29/25: In addition to the “Tiger Eye”, Action Bronson unveiled another New Balance 992, which is dubbed “Digitalis Purpurea”. The sneaker is named after a foxglove plant, as the colorway is inspired by a flower that’s considered to be beautiful despite it being poisonous but can also be used in medication to help patients with heart issues. The drop is slated for September 2025.

Original Story 8/27/25:
The intersection of food, music, and pop culture has been the lifeblood of Action Bronson’s career, but sneakers have been a throughline in his narrative. His various collabs with New Balance over the last several years have especially stood out for their audacious colorways and cheeky references. The Queens native now showed off another upcoming release from the brand on the red carpet for his new film Caught Stealing, in which he costars with Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Bad Bunny, and Matt Smith.

The latest shoe was a prototype Action Bronson x New Balance 992 “Cosmic Rose” and found the rapper in an all-out shade fest. The sneaker is drenched in color and features deep purple suede overlays, fluorescent pink reflective detailing, lilac eye-stays, and orange mesh underlays. The colorway continues Action Bronson’s typical design sensibilities of using colors that would typically be considered clashing, but work somehow when worn. Compared to his previous “Knicks” edition, this new release leans into louder and more experimental direction.

For context, the 992 silhouette is no stranger to making design statements. Since its initial release in 2006, the silhouette has been popular among both runners and sneakerheads for its ample midsole and performance-oriented design. Bronson’s collaboration takes the silhouette a step further into a lifestyle direction while also making a conversation piece. This is the detail sneakerheads will notice, as another shoe is blurred into the line between a performance and collectible.

The Action Bronson x New Balance 992 “Digitalis Purpurea” will release September 2025 via his website specializinginlife.com, with a potential wider launch on NewBalance.com.

Nike Air Max 95 Comes With “Court Purple” Camo

The Nike Air Max 95 “Court Purple Camo” brings a new twist to the layered silhouette.

The black mesh and leather upper is broken up by a deep purple camouflage print. Lace loops and the heel feature reflective 3M accents, a popular aesthetic when running around at night.

The camouflage print references previous Air Max drops as part of Nike’s design story, but this application is darker and edgier. The purple camouflage print has some “Neon” lineage to it, but in a new way that appeals to sneakerheads.

The full-length black midsole features visible Air Max cushioning in the forefoot and heel. Purple accents are featured throughout the two-toned outsole to add energy. Embroidered mini Swooshes add some final touches.

The Nike Air Max 95 “Court Purple Camo” will be available on September 12, 2025 at a price of $200 USD through SNKRS.com and select retailers.

Air Jordan 6 “Cap and Gown” Releases Summer 2026

Jordan Brand continues its graduate-inspired collection with the Air Jordan 6 “Cap and Gown” dropping in Summer 2026. Following the footsteps of prior upgrades to all-Black finishes, this new AJ6 redesign steps up with reflective accents and metallic embellishments.

Jordan Brand first launched the “Cap and Gown” collection in 2018 with the Air Jordan 11, which was also a popular release for its glossy black patent leather finish. The following year, 2019, saw the “Cap and Gown” Air Jordan 13 take the place of the hologram, favoring a “23” badge instead. Each release has provided fans with a sleek and sophisticated sneaker to wear at graduations, ceremonies, and everyday life.

The upcoming Air Jordan 6 edition is no different as it follows the same blacked-out formula, with a few edgier upgrades. Silver accents are found on the midsole and heel spoiler, while reflective piping is featured along the upper for a touch of contrast. A matte black outsole finishes off the understated yet sleek look.

Sneakerheads will also take interest in the deeper significance behind the model, as Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 6 to help win his first NBA Championship back in 1991.

Jordan Spizike Low “El Vuelo” Honors Mexico’s Lucha Libre Tradition

UPDATE 8/29/25: Jordan Brand has released the campaign images for the Jordan Spizike Low “El Vuelo.” The sneakers are inspired by lucha libre wrestlers in Mexico City, as the glossy and textured accents were influenced by traditional wrestling masks. Dedicated packaging based on retro-inspired lucha posters also complements the release set for September 16, 2025.

Original Story 8/11/25:
Jordan Brand will release the Jordan Spizike Low “El Vuelo” (“The Flight”) in another tribute to Mexico’s War of Independence.

Constructed from white snakeskin-textured leather topped with smooth overlays, the low-top sneaker is decked out with red accents on the heel, pull tab, and lace toggle. It also has a metallic gold Jumpman logo on the tongue. A green Jumpman on the lace toggle is also a reference to Mexico’s national colors.

Decorative medallions on the heel reintroduced with the silhouette last year return in gold and feature the “Mars Blackmon” logo as well as the 40 Acres & A Mule logo. The worn off-white midsole with visible Air cushioning rests on a red rubber outsole.

In addition to the colorway, the sneaker’s design was inspired by lucha libre wrestlers from Mexico City. Design elements take inspiration from the texture of the iconic wrestlers masks. The exclusive box also imitates the look of a vintage match poster.

The Jordan Spizike Low “El Vuelo” will release on September 16th, 2025, honoring Mexico’s Independence Day. The shoes will be available on Nike.com and select retailers.

Air Jordan 3 Mexico “El Vuelo” Celebrates Lucha Libre Culture

UPDATE 8/29/25: The official campaign photos of the Air Jordan 3 Mexico “El Vuelo” have been unveiled. The images pay tribute to the shoe’s lucha libre inspiration and Mexican heritage ahead of its global release on September 20th.

Original Story 8/11/25:
Jordan Brand continues its tribute to Mexican heritage in 2025 with the Air Jordan 3 Mexico “El Vuelo”, following last year’s Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” release. The silhouette is inspired by Mexico City’s lucha libre wrestling tradition. It makes the connection between Michael Jordan’s Jordanesque flight and the aerial antics of the masked grapplers who dominated the ring.

The shoe is built around a “Summit White” leather upper detailed with green, white, and red elements inspired by the Mexican flag. Patterned overlays are cut from textured and patent leather panels and recall the look of traditional luchador masks. Metallic Gold eyelets and Jumpman branding give the shoe championship-winner vibes. Details of Pine Green and Dragon Red give the sneaker a festive feel. Iconic AJ3 features like visible Air cushioning and elephant print-style paneling are reworked in this cultural colorway.

The tongues of the Air Jordan 3 Mexico “El Vuelo” are embroidered with the Spanish words “QUE FUERZA” and “MÁS VALE MAÑA”, or “What Strength” and “Cleverness is Worth More.” These are common phrases in lucha libre culture and are a nod to both the fight in the ring and the importance of strategic thinking. The special edition box art and packaging serve as the cherry on top, resembling a vintage lucha libre fight poster.

Kanye West Releases More YEEZY Slides

UPDATE 8/29/25: Kanye has dropped two new Yeezy Side colorways, “Fudge” and “Silver/Green”, now available on the Yeezy website. Same design as the adidas Yeezy Slide, but drops adidas branding and costs $20 less. Stay tuned for upcoming pairs.

Original Story 8/11/25:
Kanye West has officially relaunched YEEZY.com, unveiling a fresh lineup of footwear and apparel just months after being dropped by Shopify. Now hosted through a different domain provider, the updated site features eight independently-produced shoe styles that move away from his adidas-era partnership.

The headline release is the YS-01 slide, a stripped-down $20 version of his popular adidas Yeezy Slide, which last restocked in June 2024. Other items include Yeezy Pods (PD-01), Yeezy SL-01 slides, Yeezy sculpted heels, and Yeezy Sculpted Boots, which are tight-fitting and tall boot styles. Yeezy’s latest iteration comes with the same minimal style and aesthetic that he is known for, with a shift towards more exaggerated silhouettes and lowered price points.

While all products are available now, buyers should note mixed feedback from recent orders, with some reports of shipping delays or fulfillment issues. This could reflect growing pains from operating outside major retail platforms.

The full collection can be found on the YEEZY.com website and will be available while supplies last. Prices start at $20 for the YS-01 slides and go up for each style such as the HL-01 boots and the heels.
