adidas Reveals the Future of Running With the Futurecraft STRUNG

adidas continues to find innovative ways to improve its running footwear lineup by revealing their latest Futurecraft STRUNG, a shoe that comes equipped with the most radical additively manufactured midsoles enabled by Carbon to date.

The shoe features a new textile upper known as STRUNG, a tech that allows developers to dial specific structure coordinates on computers that are then set to robots for development. This new technology will allow more precise zones of breathability, flexibility, and support.

The press release reads: “As a business, we are constantly striving for optimum footwear performance. To achieve this, we need to get the most out of our materials. We like to talk about our products ‘silently serving’ the athlete – seamlessly improving performance and in this case getting more out of every thread so that they can focus on nothing but their sport.”

“The midsole is our most radical ADIDAS 4D lattice design to date, featuring a new shape to cater for forefoot strikers. The heel has been minimised to remove the weight and the rubber outsole is specifically engineered to provide traction just where needed, resulting in an extremely minimalist midsole.”

adidas reports that the Futurecraft STRUNG shoe will not be made commercially available, but has a targeted launch date for early 2022 with development to continue over the next year.

Nike Reveals “Day of the Dead” Collection

Nike’s Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) Collection this year remixes the Nike Air Max 90, Nike Daybreak Type, Nike Blazer Mid and the Air Jordan 1 Mid with a modern approach grounded in art and culture.

Día de Muertos’s traditional ofrendas, or altars, serve as the design inspiration behind each of the silhouettes and apparel pieces, with colors, patterns and crafted details nodding to the delicate, handmade artwork of papel picado and flowers typically seen at an altar.

Alongside the juxtapositions and contrasting textures, the pack focuses on intrinsic colors, patterns and materials and employs Marigold — the traditional Mexican flower — as a collecting thread throughout the pack and apparel. A tradition that serves as a reminder of heritage, the Día de Muertos Collection also connects back to the notion of family and has “Para Mi Familia” on the DBreak Type heel, the toe of the Air Jordan 1 and the tee and hoodie graphics.

Following the “Community Garden” Dunk Low release back in September, Nike reveals another eco-friendly colorway with the new “Crater” SB Dunk Low Pro E (short for Eco).

Dressed in a Dark Grey and White color scheme. This Nike SB Dunk Low uses sustainable materials featuring a mix of recycled canvas, polyester, and rubber. It also includes Nike Grind rubber on the midsole and outsole, along with Zoom Air unit made with re-used TPU.
