Kevin Durant’s fifth signature shoe is coming back in 2027, and one of the first colorways expected to return is the KD 5 “DMV.” The pair originally dropped in December 2012 and has not been released again since.
Built around Durant’s roots in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area, the shoe uses a Bright Crimson upper inspired by mambo sauce, a longtime local favorite throughout the region. The bold shade covers the Hyperfuse construction, while black and volt accents help break up the look.
The KD V was made as a performance basketball shoe, so the original setup included a foam midsole with Nike Zoom cushioning underfoot. Its higher cut and molded upper also gave the model a much different feel from the lower, lighter Durant signatures that followed in later years.
Also expected to return in 2027 is the KD 6 “Seat Pleasant” colorway, giving Nike another hometown-themed colorway from Durant’s early signature line.
