Nike continues building out the Ava line with the more technical Nike Ava Edge. Slated to drop this Summer/Fall, Nike has not revealed pricing or availability.
A chunkier upper adds more architectural interest to this grey and royal blue colorway. The low-top silhouette is what ultimately ties this shoe back to the Ava collection, but Nike shaped the upper with more rigidity compared to previous models. A synthetic mesh cage molds over the forefoot and lateral panels to build more intrigue without appearing over-engineered.
Nike loads royal blue through the toe box, overlays on the midfoot, and down onto the molded sole unit. Grey is used on the main upper to tone down the aggression while small hoop Swooshes are found on the toe box, tongue badge, side panel, and under the outsole.
Grooved honeycomb grid shapes with pixel-cut outs cover both the midsole and outsole. This pattern alters the overall feel of the shoe far more than any other design decision. Nike moves away from the soft curves of past Avas and introduces angled edges for a more aggressive shoe profile.
Blue blank insoles and grey rope laces tie the rest of the details together. A suede-like quarter adds texture to the heel while a perforated Nike branded tongue completes the aesthetic. Rumors have suggested ReactX cushioning will make a return, but no official tech breakdown has been released.
With the Nike Ava Edge, Nike keeps the Ava family sharp and within their own lane of lifestyle inspired running footwear.
