Masyn Designs His Own 3D-Printed Nike Air Max Mule With Zellerfeld

Published on

Los Angeles designer Masyn has his own 3D-printed Nike Air Max shoe, made with help from Zellerfeld as part of Nike’s new Air Works program. Instead of looking to celebrities for ideas, he based the design on people he actually knows, including friends, family, and mentors who have been part of his life.

The shoe has stars all over the upper and bottom, with one larger star underneath that leaves a star-shaped print on the ground when you walk. It’s a small detail tied to the people who have left an impression on Masyn over the years. The whole shoe is 3D-printed, giving it a different look from the usual Nike Air Max models.

Masyn went with a slip-on mule design that isn’t meant to be specifically for men or women. The shape and construction are a little different from what you’d normally see from Nike, which is part of the idea behind working with Zellerfeld and its 3D-printing technology.

The shoes were first shown at a friends-and-family event at NOVA studios in West Hollywood. Masyn is one of several designers taking part in Nike’s first Air Works program, which gives creatives from around the world a chance to make their own Air Max designs. A release date for Masyn’s pair hasn’t been announced.
