Nike Sportswear is set to release a new Air Max 90 dubbed, “Rice Ball” that’s inspired by Onigiri, also known as o-musubi, nigirimeshi, or rice ball, a Japanese food made from white rice formed into triangular or cylindrical shapes and often wrapped in nori.
This edition of the Nike Air Max 90 features a seaweed-like textured upper highlighted with Aqua Blue contrasting accents and Red covering the “AIR MAX” and “Nike Air” emblem at the side and heel, respectively. Its mudguards give off a plastic wrapper vibe, while having “Pull” nodding to the product’s packaging on the tongues and laces. An insole covered in rice graphics atop a White midsole and Blue translucent outsole completes the design.
