To celebrate Air Max Day 2023, Nike Sportswear brought back the “Big Bubble” Air Max 1 that was part of the original production run in 1986, before the Air Max 1 made its debut in 1987. Now it looks like there are plenty more Air Max 1 ’86 colorways that will be releasing this year, with one of them being this upcoming “Metallic Gold Grain” makeup.
Dressed in a Metallic Gold Grain, Hemp, Lakeside, and Earth color scheme. This offering of the Nike Air Max 1 comes constructed in a mix of mesh on the toe box, nylon along the collar and tongues with a suede-felt material used on the overlays, mudguards, and Swooshes. Signature “Nike” branding on the tongue labels, insoles, and heel embroidery with the longer visible Air unit in the heel atop a Dark Brown rubber outsole completes the design.

UPDATE 4/13: Originally thought to be the “Smokey Mauve” pair, this Nike Air Max 1 ’86 is in fact the upcoming “Metallic Gold Grain” colorway. Unlike the pair that was gifted to the Black Market Flex vendors, this is the standard version of the release and it will not feature the individually numbers along the midsole. UPDATE 4/3: To celebrate 2023 Air Max Day, LA-based clothing label Kids of Immigrants partnered with Nike to gift Black Market Flea vendors exclusive “Big Bubble” Air Max 1s, which included the “Metallic Gold Grain” colorway. Each pair is limited to 1,986 pairs and individually numbered on the midsoles. As of now, a standard version of the shoe has yet to be announced for a public release.
