The New Balance 597 was reissued in the beginning of 2017. The retro runner is returning once again thanks to size? and their “Neotropic” Pack. Consisting of two colorways inspired from the lifeforms found within the Neotropic realm, an area built from dense tropical rainforest and home to a myriad of plants and animals.

The first colorway of the pair is a bold combination of Deep Red and Gold, an homage to Toucan’s in particular who frequent the Neotropic regions. The upper comprises of a slightly textured suede, dyed in both of the main colour choices. Contrasting Grey mesh panels sit on the toebox and ankle region, breaking up the more flamboyant hues.

Reaching to the opposite end of the spectrum for the second colourway, the palette is a lot more muted, making use of shades of Green and Light Pink to take the theme in a slightly different direction. The Greens representing the rich forestry that shapes the tropical environment, and the Pink passiflora flower follows onto the mesh underlay and eyestay.
