The New Balance 1890A “Dark Knight” sticks with black and purple, but the different materials keep the colorway from looking one-dimensional.

Black mesh fills the toe and sides, then glossy synthetic panels wrap over it in curved, almost wavy sections. Lavender piping picks out the edges without adding too much brightness. There are reflective details in the upper as well, though they mostly blend in until the shoe is hit with direct light.

Up front, a stitched apron toe gives the 1890A a slight moccasin look. It is an unusual touch for a model built this thick and technical. New Balance keeps the branding low-key, placing a small embroidered “N” near the vamp instead of using a large logo along the side. Smaller marks appear on the tongue and heel.

The dark purple ABZORB midsole sits above a chunky black outsole, with visible cushioning pods running from the heel into the forefoot.

The New Balance 1890A “Dark Knight” releases during Summer 2026 through New Balance and select retailers for $200.
