The estate of Kobe Bryant did not renew a new contrast with Nike. According to sneaker industry insider Nick Depaula, “Vanessa Bryant did not renew the contract. Kobe and Nike are done.” Bryant’s latest deal with Nike expired on April 13, 2021.

Back in December 2020, venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar said that Kobe Bryant wasn’t happy with his Nike deal before his passing and intended on leaving the brand. His plans was to start a player-owned, independent sneaker company called, Mamba. Shervin even shared mockups of the shoe for the Mamba brand.

While there are still plenty more Nike Kobe shoes to release in 2021, they will be the last for time being.

Nike’s official statement:

“Kobe Bryant was an important part of Nike’s deep connection to consumers. He pushed us and made everyone around him better. Though our contractual relationship has ended, he remains a deeply loved member of the Nike family.”
