Kanye West took it to Twitter today to make a strong statement regarding his adidas Yeezy brand and its current sales.
“I am currently the single highest paid person in footwear. That means I make more money on shoes than Michael Jordan,” West shared. He added, “the Yeezy 350s sell 400 thousand pair in four hours. Only thing close to this is the iPhone.”
The Tweets continued, “the desert rat 500 sold 250 thousand in one hour on Coachella weekend. Please do not try to play Yeezy or anyone who wears Yeezy. We are the future.” He goes on saying, “the Yeezy 700 is adidas most requested shoe. adidas have been great partners and they’ve let Yeezy be Yeezy. This could’ve never happened at Nike.”
According to Forbes, Michael Jordan’s net worth went up to $1.65 billion last year, while his Nike deal earned him around $110 million. Nike co-founder Phil Knight has an estimated net worth of $30.1 billion.
So it’s unlikely that Kanye actually makes more than Michael Jordan, the only thing that would make sense is if he was able to get a better deal than His Airness. But that wouldn’t even put his Yeezy line ahead of Jordan Brand. You can read his Tweets below.
