FC Barcelona is back in the Kobe line for 2026, this time on the Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro. The purple and gold setup is familiar territory by now, and it fits a theme that has followed Kobe’s sneakers for years because of his long connection to soccer and Barça.

The FC Barcelona x Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro keeps things pretty simple. Purple covers almost everything, from the upper and laces to the molded cage, midsole, and translucent outsole. Black shows through underneath the side panels and around the collar, giving the shoe a little more depth. Gold handles the branding, with Kobe’s Sheath logo on one tongue and the FC Barcelona crest on the other. The same gold finish shows up again on the heel Swooshes and inside the shoes.

This pair also isn’t arriving by itself. FC Barcelona and Nike are bringing the same theme over to a Kobe Dunk Low Protro, giving the 2026 collection two very different shapes to work with.

Using the Kobe 3 Low gives this Barcelona release a different feel from some of the older pairs. Rather than going back to one of the usual Kobe retros, Nike put the theme on the new low-top version of his third signature shoe. It still looks like a Kobe 3, just with a lower shape that changes the overall profile quite a bit.

Barcelona has shown up in Kobe’s sneaker history before. One of the most memorable examples came in 2011 with the Nike Kobe 6 “Barcelona,” which became one of the harder colorways to track down from the original Kobe 6 run. That release gave the club theme a place in the line long before the current Protro releases started rolling out.

Kobe’s connection to Barcelona was never just about sneakers either. He followed the club, spent plenty of time around the sport, and carried that interest with him throughout his career. That’s why Barça has continued to make sense as part of the Kobe story years later.
