Community Poll: Air Jordan 11 Retro Overrated?

Published on

Every year the Air Jordan 11 is the most talked about, anticipated and overhyped silhouette. The funny thing about the Air Jordan 11 is the fact it’s literally talked about 24-7/365. Think about it, they drop always during the Holidays and the day of the release sneakerheads are instantly talking about the next year’s Air Jordan 11 release, what they’ll be, what will they look like, Space Jam 11s?

The model does hold a place in Jordan Brand’s heart as it’s the silhouette Michael Jordan wore in his first full year back, which him and the Chicago Bulls recored a 72-10 season along with another championship.

There is no question the popularity of the Air Jordan 11 from its design/style and the fact that it only comes out once a year, the Holidays. If you look at it from a performance stand point, yeah the shoe may be outdated a bit but is that enough to call these overrated?

You also have people that literally buy them only for the looks, but end up wearing them only a handful of times due to the scared fact of getting them messed up. Then you have the bandwagon fans who just buy them to look cool without knowing anything about the shoe and history. It’s all because they were popular then and now, so they say the hell with it I’m copping, just for the sake of being in the in-crowd for Instagram.

The resellers, yes you have those people who try to make a living buying shoes only because of the resell value. Do those people even count in this debate? Im going to say no and move on.

Personally the Air Jordan 11 are one of my favorite shoes. Along with the 3s and 4s (the Air Jordan 3 holds a special meaning in my heart, but that’s for another day). For me its preference. But the reason for others and the hype, makes them somewhat overrated. Do you agree or disagree? Leave your thoughts, vote and comments below.
