Just in time for the 2017 MLB All-Star festivities, Jordan Brand will be releasing a special edition Air Jordan 9 Baseball Glove for the occasion. The shoe inspired by Micheal Jordan’s love of baseball. Using premium leather on both Air Jordan 9 colorways mimics the texture of baseball gloves. The number 45 on the shoe appears along with a lesser known number in MJ’s baseball history – the number 35.
While everyone knows that Michael Jordan spent most of his short-lived baseball career playing for the Birmingham Barons, most may not be aware that he also played in the Arizona Fall league for the Scottsdale Scorpions. During that time, MJ debuted the number 35, which is referenced on the “Brown Leather” edition of the Air Jordan 9 Baseball Glove.
The packaging for this baseball-inspired Air Jordan 9 is inspired by the ’90s tradition of opening up baseball trading cards. Each pair will come in a Black Jumpman bag, and you won’t know which pair you have unit you pull them out. That is the reason why the box label will read “Multi-Color/Multi-Color” instead of the shoe’s actual color scheme.
Rounding out the entire release is a large, chiseled, Black Jumpman hang-tag, very similar to the ones that came with the Pinnacle releases.
