The Air Jordan 6 OG “Infrared” is reportedly set to return in Spring 2026, celebrating its 35th anniversary. This iconic sneaker played a historic role in basketball, as Michael Jordan wore it when he won his first NBA Championship in 1991 against Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers.
First released in 1991, the Air Jordan 6 was designed by Tinker Hatfield. The sneaker’s sleek, aerodynamic build was inspired by Jordan’s love for sports cars. Key features included a reinforced rubber tongue grip, a translucent outsole, and an internal fitted sleeve for comfort. However, what made the “Infrared” version truly stand out was its Black nubuck upper, bold Infrared accents, and the signature Nike Air branding on the heel.
For its 35th Anniversary, Jordan Brand aims to deliver a faithful recreation of the original. Expect Nike Air branding, premium nubuck material, and the classic Infrared detailing. While past retros have made slight changes to materials and color blocking, this edition could be the closest to the 1991 release.
