Better Air Jordan 6 Release: “Infrared” or “Doernbecher”

Published on

The Air Jordan 6, introduced by Nike in 1991, gained fame for its innovative design and association with Michael Jordan’s championship season. One standout version is the “Infrared,” featuring bold red accents. Another notable edition is the “Doernbecher,” created in collaboration with patients from the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, showcasing their unique stories.

In 2019, the Air Jordan 6 “Infrared” returned, mirroring the original design worn by Jordan during his NBA triumph. Constructed with black nubuck and a reflective layer, this mid-top shoe features vivid Infrared details on the midsole, heel, and lace lock. Retaining its authenticity, it displays Nike Air branding on the heel and sockliner, reminiscent of its initial release.

Annually, Nike partners with Doernbecher patients to design sneakers, aiding the hospital’s fundraising. The Air Jordan 6 DB “Doernbecher” honors Jordan Dark’s 2009 creation, characterized by blue, red, and white tones. Dark’s personal journey, depicted on the shoe during his chemotherapy, adds emotional depth to this reissued design, symbolizing resilience and joy.
