Jordan Brand continues to build on its partnership with Rui Hachimura, this time through the Air Jordan 4028 “Rui Hachimura”, a release that leans into quiet storytelling instead of loud design. Following earlier collaborations like the Air Jordan 1 Low, this pair keeps things subtle while still delivering a clear identity tied to Rui’s roots.
The Air Jordan 40 itself pulls from the design language of the Air Jordan XX8, most notably with its fold-down shroud. That feature gives the Air Jordan 4028 a sleek, almost boot-like look that separates it from traditional numbered Jordans. The silhouette first surfaced in late 2025 on Paolo Banchero and gained added attention when Bam Adebayo delivered a historic 83-point performance wearing the model.
For Rui’s version, the upper arrives in a deep navy textile, detailed with sashiko-style stitching throughout. The pattern adds texture and depth without overpowering the design, offering a refined nod to Japanese craftsmanship. A central zip shroud enhances the streamlined feel, while a glossy mudguard adds a slight contrast in finish.
Performance remains a priority. The midsole is equipped with responsive Zoom cushioning, paired with a semi-translucent outsole for traction. Subtle branding hits, including Nike Air at the heel and a metallic Jumpman on the lateral side, keep the look balanced. Inside, Rui’s logo appears on the insole, continuing the personal touch without overdoing it.
The Air Jordan 4028 “Rui Hachimura” is expected to release in Summer 2026, with early signs pointing to a more limited, possibly overseas-exclusive drop.
