This Air Jordan 2 Alumni pays tribute to the classic North Carolina vs. UCLA Alumni Game at Pauley Pavilion on June 28, 1987. Some of the notable names that played in the game were Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Kenny Smith and Reggie Miller.
Michael Jordan had just finished his third year in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls and scored 18 points during the game.
This particular Air Jordan 2 UNC PE was debuted by Michael Jordan on January 18th, 1986 as part of the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game. That day was the first time the North Carolina Tar Heels called the Dean E. Smith Center home.
Just like the original PE, this Air Jordan 2 comes dressed in White, Varsity Red and Black color scheme with Carolina Blue on the back tab. But for the 2017 Retro version, the shoe will come with details on the heel that reads, “MJ” and “6/28/87” as a nod to the date the UNC vs. ULCA Alumni game was played.
