Maintaining the wing-shaped overlays of the 2025 retail release, this unissued variation notably swaps its primary color palette of brighter tones for an all-black and metallic bronze colorway. An additional touch of upmarket luxury comes from a snakeskin-like textured paneling while glossy midsoles further help to accentuate the overall design. Duke Reveals “Alternate” Nike Kobe 5 Protro PE

Duke’s men’s basketball squad continues to dominate both on the court and in sneaker culture with another standout Kobe 5 Protro PE. This marks the third exclusive colorway crafted just for the Blue Devils, completing their impressive player-exclusive rotation.

This latest “Alternate” pair pairs gradient overlays fading from white to royal blue with bold black synthetic panels that mirror the team’s alternate uniforms. The shimmering patent details and sleek transitions give it an elevated energy fit for Cameron Indoor Stadium. The tongue is emblazoned with the Duke “D” logo, which is a simple but telling reference to the school’s history and the affinity between Nike, college hoops and Kobe Bryant’s involvement.

This new iteration just seems more aggressive than the previous “Home” and “Away” colorways – a sneaker for those Blue Devils hardwood warriors when the lights are out, the heat is on and the stage is set.
