Virgil Abloh: The Codes Exhibition Is Coming To New York City

Published on

More than 1,000 pieces from Virgil Abloh’s work will be on display in New York later this year. The Virgil Abloh Archive is bringing its traveling exhibition, Virgil Abloh: The Codes, to The Shed, giving visitors a look at his design work and how he approached different creative projects. There’s also a chance we could see another V.A.A. sneaker during the event.

Something similar happened in Paris last year, when the previous exhibition gave us an early look at the V.A.A. x Nike Zoom M9 Cryoshot. That shoe was made through Nike’s work with the Virgil Abloh Archive, which has kept his designs and creative work in the spotlight since his passing.

One pair worth watching is the orange V.A.A. x Nike Air Force 1 Low that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wore during NBA Media Day. Unlike older Off-White samples, this version has V.A.A. branding similar to other releases connected to the archive. Nothing has been confirmed, but the orange colorway could make an appearance at the New York exhibition.

Whether the orange Air Force 1 actually gets released is another question. It could end up being available to the public, or it might stay exclusive to the exhibition and people involved with V.A.A. The Paris event had a pine green Air Force 1 that was limited to archive employees, so there’s already some history of pairs being made specifically for these shows.

Virgil Abloh: The Codes will run at The Shed in New York’s Hudson Yards from December 10, 2026, through January 18, 2027. Tickets for the general public go on sale October 23, 2026, starting at $25. Learn more HERE.
