Jon Batiste recently showed off a Nike Dunk High project called the Maestro 1, with two black pairs appearing on his Instagram. Neither one looks much like a regular Dunk release. The materials, artwork, and branding are much more personal, with several details connected to Batiste and his family.
One pair comes covered in glossy black patent leather. “I love you even if I don’t know you” is written near the lateral heel, while a silhouette of Batiste appears on the tongue. “Glow Shine Fly” is added across the back. Inside the shoe is a cloud painting by his wife, Suleika Jaouad, which is printed across the insoles.
The other pair goes in a different direction with a matte black finish and silver pearls spread across the upper. Batiste’s silhouette returns on the tongue, and the same cloud artwork is used inside the shoe.
Even the packaging was made specifically for the project. Piano keys run across the boxes, along with another image of Batiste, and matching shoe bags continue the same theme.
There is no release date for the Jon Batiste x Nike Dunk High Maestro 1 Collection yet. It also remains unknown whether either pair will be sold to the public.
