John Rattray is a skateboarder and advocate for mental health awareness, who created “Why So Sad?” to help open up the conversation about suicide prevention in skateboarding and elsewhere.
To help the cause, Nike SB has teamed up with the Scottish talent to release a special edition SB Dunk Low that will be a large part of this year’s fundraising efforts.
This offering of the Why So Sad? x Nike SB Dunk Low features a Light Blue leather base and mesh tongues with Dark Blue tear-away overlays to reveal Yellow underneath. An embroidered skateboarding chicken motif on the lateral heel, co-branded insoles with graphic of a bird doing a sad grab, “Why So Sad?” branding on the inner tongue tag, and question marks embroidered on the heels. A White midsole atop a translucent outsole completes the design.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these SB Dunk Lows, with art by Jon Horner, will go directly to the WhySoSad? fundraising efforts.
