A partnership years in the making is bringing Lagos skate culture to one of adidas’ most recognizable sneakers. Wafflesncream, better known as waf., has reworked the Superstar ADV for its first official collaboration with the brand.
The project carries a few notable firsts. waf. becomes the first Nigerian label to partner with adidas and the first African skate community to place its name on the Superstar during the model’s more than 50-year history.

Founded in 2012 by brothers Jomi and Nifemi Marcus-Bello alongside KC Obijiaku, waf. grew out of a skate scene that barely existed in Lagos at the time. Rather than look elsewhere for a community, the group began building its own, later opening a public skatepark at Freedom Park, a former colonial prison site. Through its shop, events, and nine editions of Go Skate Day, waf. has developed into one of the most important skate organizations in West Africa.
Lagos provides the foundation for the sneaker’s muted color palette. Dusty grey shades reflect the industrial surroundings of Lagos Island, while soft pink accents reference the coastal sky. The design also includes breathable side panels suited for the city’s hot, humid conditions.
Those local details sit on the Superstar ADV, a skate-ready version of the classic shell-toe silhouette. Its construction focuses on board feel, traction, and durability, allowing the collaboration to function as more than a lifestyle release.
adidas has worked with waf. on community programs and Go Skate Day events for several years, making the Superstar ADV a continuation of that relationship rather than a standalone project.
Following an early launch at adidas Lekki in Lagos, the waf. x adidas Superstar ADV will release globally on October 12 through adidas.com and select retailers.
