Following the success of the Mars Yard 2.0, Tom Sachs and Nike are getting ready to launch the Mars Yard 2.5 during the 2020 holiday season.

Dressed in a Particle Grey and Sport Red color scheme. The shoe sports the signature Beige upper with Red contrasting accents. Additional details includes an added Black toe bumper and outsole tread.

Tom Sachs Nike Mars Yard 2.5 Release Date

Look for the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 2.5 to release sometime in December 2020 at select retailers and Nike.com. Stay tuned for more updates.

UPDATE 12/23: Nike has confirmed that the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 2.5 will be releasing soon, but will need help of fans to wear test the shoe ahead of its launch. Applications to join the Mars Yard 2.5 Wear Test will be accepted via one-minute videos uploaded to Instagram explaining why you want to join, and the video must be submitted by 11:59 PM on December 31st, 2020. Those selected will be required to give their feedback on the Mars Yard 2.5. When the program is over, the shoe sill be returned, sanitized, studied, repaired, and reissued.

“With this particular challenge, we are engaging people to really think about this shoe and bring different perspectives, both culturally and environmentally,” says Sachs. “This is an opportunity to invite a larger audience to really indulge in our favorite part of the process — learning about things and making stuff. The process is the most valuable thing, and if the end result is a great pair of shoes, that’s fantastic. But I think it’s really important that the testing process celebrates the journey.”

Nike has yet to confirm a wider release of the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 2.5.

UPDATE 12/4: Tom Sachs himself previewed an unreleased version of his latest Nike Mars Yard sneaker via Instagram story. This pair appears to feature a new cushioning setup in the midsole atop a waffle outsole. As of now, it’s unclear which version of the Mars Yard 2.5 will release to the public. Stay tuned for more updates.

UPDATE 11/14: Here’s a first look via Half Gallery’s Bill Powers at the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 2.5. The shoe sports a Beige, White and Red color scheme with an added Black toe bumper and outsole tread. An official release date has yet to be announced.
