Design activations across Nike’s universe are always evolving. Lately, there’s been an emphasis on individuals with hands on the wheel of product development, influencing designs through experience. See that in action once again on the SWDC x Nike Cortez. The Serena Williams Design Crew is fitting its mission-first mindset to a classic silhouette. Slated to drop this Spring 2026, they’re putting a new spin on the Cortez without altering what makes it great.
Far from changing the shoe’s shape, this capsule focuses on fabric and mood. Premium leather builds arrive in controlled palettes, pairing dark green with cream on one option, while another balances off-white with black. The result keeps the Cortez recognizable while subtly repositioning it through finish and color balance.
Texture becomes the defining language. Pebbled Swooshes with zigzag edges introduce contrast, while layered lacing and metallic bow-shaped lace charms add a refined, almost jewelry-like touch. A volt insole stamped with Serena’s “SW” logo delivers the boldest visual moment, placed where it feels intentional rather than overt.
This approach signals a quieter design direction, where restraint and execution carry more weight than heavy redesign.
Both SWDC x Nike Cortez colorways are expected to release in Spring 2026 via Nike.com and select retailers.
