Supreme is reaching into a lesser-known part of Nike’s early-2000s archive for its latest collaboration. This time, the New York label is helping bring back the runner many collectors remember as the Air Max 2000.

For the Supreme release, the shoe is being called the Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy. The unusual name comes from a confusing stretch of Nike history when several Alpha Project runners shared similar tooling and design details. Models like the Air Max 2000, Air Max 2001, and Air Ecstasy Plus all featured comparable Tuned Air setups and horizontal TPU overlays, which led to plenty of mix-ups among collectors over the years.

Nike appears to be cleaning things up for the wider comeback. Upcoming non-Supreme versions are expected to use the simpler Air Max Ecstasy Plus name, while Supreme is sticking with Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy for its collaboration.

The shoe itself still carries the look of the original Y2K runner. Supreme adds a quilted mesh upper along with reflective detailing and oversized “SUPREME” branding worked into the TPU structure around the heel. Underneath is the familiar full-length Air Max 2000-style cushioning setup.

Three colorways make up the collection. One comes dressed almost entirely in black, another pairs white with icy blue accents, while the loudest version combines red with yellow and an aged-looking midsole.

It is another example of Supreme skipping the obvious Nike classics and pulling something much deeper from the archive. The Air Max 2000 never reached the status of Nike’s better-known Air Max models, but its return gives a forgotten Alpha Project design another run more than two decades later.

The Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy releases August 27, 2026 at Supreme stores and online, followed by Supreme locations in Asia on August 29. The shoes will be available in unisex sizing for $190.
