Sterling Ruby’s S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. and Vans continue their creative partnership with the launch of their second footwear and apparel collaboration under the OTW by Vans line. Set to release on December 5, 2024, this collection combines Ruby’s artistic vision with Vans’ iconic design ethos.

The 7-piece collection showcases a mix of footwear and apparel. On the footwear front, it includes four silhouettes built on OTW Vibram soles: the Old Skool 36, the Sk8-Hi 38, and two versions of the Slip-On 98. These designs are adorned with motifs such as monster claws and decaying jack-o-lanterns, themes directly drawn from Ruby’s distinctive fine art practice.

Complementing the footwear is a trio of apparel pieces—a t-shirt, a long-sleeve tee, and a hoodie. These items feature bold graphics, including a decomposing jack-o-lantern, co-branded logos, and the statement “ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT FOR TOTAL SERENITY,” a nod to Ruby’s ACTS sculpture series. This release also marks the first apparel drop from Vans’ collaboration with S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA.

To spotlight the collection, Ruby enlisted punk rock band Mannequin Pussy to star in the campaign. Captured by photographer Nayquan Shuler, the band was seen donning the collection during their performance of “I Got Heaven” at The Beacham in Orlando, Florida, in October 2024. The imagery reflects the collection’s punk and rebellious spirit.

Priced between $125 and $200 USD, the S.R. STUDIO LA CA x Vans OTW Collection will be available starting December 5, 2024, through otw.vans.com.
