Shaquille O’Neal wore a long list of sneaker brands during his career, including LA Gear, Reebok, and Li-Ning, before eventually putting more focus into his own Shaq Brand. The line was built around making basketball shoes more affordable, and that idea has stayed at the center of the brand over the years. More recently, Shaq handed a larger role to his son, Shareef O’Neal, as the company started working on its next phase.
Some of that newer direction was shown during New York Fashion Week, where Shareef previewed several upcoming Shaq Brand shoes. The biggest change comes from an unnamed lifestyle model that moves away from the company’s usual basketball look. It has a cupsole, thick laces, a removable zippered shroud, and a loose take on the Dunkman logo along the side.
Other models were also part of the preview, including the Devastator and 4XT. Shaq Brand also showed a running-style shoe with perforated side panels and a molded sole, giving the lineup another look outside of basketball.
The company already has newer versions of models like the Dunkman 1.0, Reign, and Devastator on the market, while these latest designs give a better idea of where Shareef is taking the brand next.
Release dates for the new Shaq Brand shoes shown during New York Fashion Week have yet to be announced.
