In 2017, the year he won the league MVP award, Russell Westbrook became one of two players in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire season, along with Oscar Robertson in 1962. The following year, in 2018, he received the name “Mr. Triple Double”, and to celebrate Jordan Brand created a special edition Air Jordan 3 “Mr. Triple Double” PE for the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar.
In May 2021, Washington Wizards point guard Russell Westbrook officially became the undisputed king of the triple doubles, snagging the 182nd in a 125-124 loss against the Atlanta Hawks.
This special offering of the Air Jordan 3 comes dressed in the Oklahoma City Thunder team colors. It features a White tumbled leather upper with perforations on the collar and tongues while having his impressive stats along the smooth leather mudguards. Other details includes his motto “Why Not” printed on the lateral midsole with Orange and Blue accents on the elephant print overlays. Russell’s personal logo on tongues with Black Jumpman logos on the heels and insoles atop a translucent outsole completes the design.
