GREATS Brand, best known for high quality sneakers at affordable prices, is set to introduce a special edition “Royale Natural Selection” pack consisting of a High and Chukka version of The Royale (My top shoe of 2014). Now if you know anything about GREATS Brand you already know that they use top quality materials on their sneakers, especially on this Natural Selection pack as both shoes will feature a Margom sole combined with tanned Vachetta leather on the upper.
Both “Royale Natural Selection” shoes are set to release on Tuesday, December 23rd at Midnight. There are super limited consisting of only 100 pairs made of each style. Greats is proud to debut the Royale High and Chukka with the limited edition Natural Selection pack. Designed to capture the distinctive personality of the wearer, the pack pushes the flagship, handcrafted Royale line forward while continuing a tradition of disrupting the traditional luxury sneaker market.
The Natural Selection pack is produced using luxurious Goat crust leather. In the trade, these leathers are referred to as being “in the crust,” having been tanned, but not finished. The benefits are clear: A striking natural color, coupled with potential for truly unique aging patterns when worn. Over time, shoes in the Natural Selection pack will conform to the owner like a brilliant pair of raw jeans, building the type of beautiful leather patina usually reserved for belts and wallets.
“We thought that by offering our product in it’s purest form, it would allow for a better narrative. The owner will get to see their shoes age and change with them. Similar to a baseball glove, a belt, or a wallet,” explained Salehe Bembury, Greats’ Footwear Design Director. “Over time, the aging, tanning, and burnishing tells a story about each owner.”
The Royale High and Chukka are built on a Margom sole, a luxury fashion industry standard, in the world famous “Shoe Valley” of Civitanova, Italy. Both sneakers are lined with full grain, vegetable tanned Vachetta leather. Unlike common leathers tanned in chromium salts, vegetable tanning converts rawhide into a leather of greater body and firmness. In other words, it’s a perfect leather for our Natural Selection line; supple in feel yet durable and supportive. Waxed cotton laces complete the luxurious package.
