Every season the Nike Hyperdunk graces the hardwood more than any other sneaker in the game. The Nike Hyperdunk represents the pinnacle of basketball sneaker performance by combining the industry’s latest materials with its newest technologies. The first Player Edition release of the 2013 Nike Hyperdunk is one inspired by Cleveland All-Star, Kyrie Irving. The shoe’s colorway is an ode to Kyrie’s history – specifically Australia, where the point guard was born while his dad was playing professionally there. Though Kyrie suits up for Team USA, this Nike Hyperdunk’s colorway uses the Australian national basketball team’s yellow and green uniforms as inspiration and modernizes them into the teal, volt, and bronze shoe you see today. A stylized “K” for Kyrie, the first time we’ve seen a brand logo for Irving, is unveiled on the shoe’s tongue which also includes a ripple pattern on the front and a map of Australia and the USA on the back – both shoutouts to Kyrie’s trans-Pacific journey from Down Under to his home state of New Jersey.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2013 itself is one of the most stylistically advanced in the history of the line. Though the shoe’s silhouette remains largely the same as last year, an oversized Lunarlon cushioning heel midsole is the pair’s most recognizable feature. A meshed Hyperfuse upper sits under exposed Flywire technology on the shoe’s mid. The Nike Hyperdunk’s cushioning, lightweight attributes, breathability and ankle cut make it perfect for players of all types and positions.
The Nike Hyperdunk 2013 Kyrie Irving PE drops on Saturday, August 31st at House of Hoops by Foot Locker for $140.
