Reebok Engine A “Pump” Releases July 31st

Published on

Reebok is bringing The Pump onto the Engine A, giving its current basketball model a feature tied closely to the brand’s past, as well as a nod to when Dee Brown won the 1991 Slam Dunk Contest after pumping up his Pump Omni Zone II. The White/Black-Orange colorway keeps the layout simple enough, though the orange details make sure the Pump setup does not get lost in the design.

Black mesh tops most of the upper, supported by molded overlays down the toe and throughout the midfoot. White synthetic panels slash across the eyestay and sides, providing contrast and structure. Standing high on the tongue above the black laces is the orange Pump button, the first detail to catch your eye.

Orange returns in smaller doses around the shoe, including the visible Energy Return System windows near the heel and branding along the midsole and outsole. A sculpted black-and-white midsole gives the Engine A its thick profile, with openings at the heel revealing part of the cushioning. Underneath, a light gray rubber outsole uses a wavy traction pattern, while orange rubber sections appear beneath the forefoot and midfoot.
