In 2024, PUMA is bringing back a classic, the iconic Mostro sneaker from 1999.
Crafted by designer Peter Schmidt, this groundbreaking sneaker blended ’80s surf shoes and ’60s sprinting spikes. Named after the Italian word for “monster,” the Mostro gained popularity at the turn of the millennium, with over a million pairs sold in the early 2000s. Even Madonna and Björk were fans, and a modified version appeared in the 2005 film The Island.
Now, over two decades later, PUMA is reintroducing the Mostro in 2024, aligning with the Y2K revival trend. It’s not an exact replica but a remastered edition honoring the 2000s Mostro lineage. The design combines the OG Mostro upper with the later Mostro Ur tooling, featuring Light Grey and Yellow colorways, a mesh upper, metallic silver PUMA Formstrip overlay, elastic strap closure, and the iconic dimpled rubber sole.
To mark the relaunch, PUMA has unveiled a captivating campaign featuring two monster-like characters, Jack and Jen. These characters, symbolizing distinctiveness, have been “thawed out” after 25 years in cryogenic slumber.
The PUMA Mostro Pack is set to release on January 13, 2024, at select global retailers like END., LN-CC, Slam Jam, Kith, and Dover Street Market. Additional colorways are expected throughout 2024. Get ready to step into the future with the revived Mostro, a fusion of timeless design and modern style.
